Jamie Young is an aspiring opera and oratorio singer. He won the Oratorio class at the 2011 Nelson Performing Arts competition, where he was also a finalist in the Aria section, and gained second in the Lieder & Art Song classes. In 2011 he also played the role of Father in the Opera/Fabula production of Kurt Weills 'Seven Deadly Sins' (Wellington). Jamie has been a member of the Opera/Fabula production of Kurt Weills 'Seven Deadly Sins' (Wellington). Jamie has been a member of the Opera NZ Chapman Tripp chorus since 2007, singing in productions of Jenufa, Italian Girl in Algiers, Eugene Onegin and MacBeth. He attended NZ Opera School in 2010 and 2011, and has participated in Master Classes with Professor Paul Farrington. Jamie studies with Wellington singing teacher Margaret Medlyn, and has regular coaching with Bruce Greenfield. Jamie is looking forward to playing the role of Frederick in this years' Wellington Gilbert and Sullivan production of 'Pirates of Penzance'.
