Classical Expressions 2014

Monday 22 September | 7.30pm

A Classical Expressions series would not be complete without a contribution from New Zealand's foremost pianist, Michael Houstoun. This year he has invited Wilma Smith, Concertmaster of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra's Principal Cellist, Eliah Sakakushev, for a tour of music for piano trio. This programme presents Mozart's last Piano Trio, an exquisite masterpiece of great warmth and colour, Maurice Ravel's highly virtuosic 1914 Trio, and Beethoven's Archduke, one of Beethoven's most treasured compositions and one of the last works he performed in public.'

Mozart: Trio in G, K.564
