In a poor neighbourhood in Cuba in 1958, Iluminada Pacheco (former clown in a travelling circus), wins a new house in a Rina soap sweepstakes. Overwhelmed by this stroke of luck, Iluminada gives away most of her belongings, but months later her life takes a less fortunate turn. This is a film adaption of Hector Quintero's play by the same name, which has been very successful when staged in Cuba and around the world.
