Islanders surveys the work of internationally renowned textile sculptor Jo Torr. Texturally rich and profoundly beautiful, Islanders features a range of beautiful costumes which explore cultural exchange through the lens of costume and textile history. Her exquisitely designed and authenitcally detailed garments, provide an intriguing way of reflection on the history and fashions of early European and Polynesian encounters, both in New Zealand and in wider Polynesia - encounters which frequently involved the exchange of clothing.
