STILL DANCING

2 November- 26 January 2014 | Vector Gallery

'Still Dancing' features large photographic portraits by Stephen A'Court of the 2012 graduating students of the New Zealand School of Dance in Newtown. The series of portraits represents a close co-operation between dancer and photographer - when the photographer is rewarded by capturing one perfect instant and the dancer's intense concentration on achieving a specific stance.

Stephen A’Court, who has worked with dancers from the School for over a decade, finds the dedication of the students inspiring. “As well as their incredible dance technique, it is possible to see glimpses of their temperaments and personalities” he says. “Dancers are the most beautiful humans on the planet, and dance is perfect for photography”.
