PRIMARY AND INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL VISITS

We encourage schools to visit Whirinaki Whare Taonga and participate in a booked education programme with our Learning Programmes Specialist. Booking in advance is recommended.

We have an exciting range of programmes available throughout the year and will customise a programme especially for your class and your students. Not only do our programmes reflect exciting artworks, we also work hard to link them to key competencies, enquiry learning and to curriculum objectives, so you are sure to experience something that is fun, creative and educational.

It is imperative to work with the Learning Programmes Specialist to ensure your visit has strong links with your classroom learning. Most of our exhibitions come with a teacher resource pack with curriculum links itemised, core competencies listed and pre and post visit activities.

Our schools programmes can include hands-on gallery experiences for students. Students are encouraged to share and discuss their ideas about the art they have seen or the ideas they may explore and learning is extended as students are invited to participate in a practical activity which relates to what they have seen and discussed.

Remember, most programmes are flexible and can be adapted to meet your students' needs, so please discuss this with our Learning Programmes Specialist. The Learning Programmes Specialist is available to meet with teachers pre visit. This will include a complementary coffee.

There is NO cost for our education classes.
